Selection and Evaluation
Once the application deadline has past all ISTplus applications will undergo a formal eligibility check. Incomplete and ineligible applications will be removed from consideration at this stage. Candidates whose applications are incomplete or ineligible will be notified within two weeks of the application deadline.
All applications must submit the ethics self-assessment (available for download on the How to Apply page). These will be reviewed by IST Austria’s Ethics Officer.
All eligible and complete applications will be evaluated by at least two members of the Selection Panel, which will be assisted by external reviewers in cases where the need to ensure an adequate match of expertise or any other good reason justifies this. Confidentiality and the absence of conflicts of interest are guaranteed through signed statements of the panel members and external reviewers. The final ranking will be consolidated and approved in a Meeting of the Selection Panel, and the top-ranked applications will be offered a fellowship. Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their applications within 2 weeks of the Selection Panel meeting. This will be no later than 2 months after the application deadline. Applications are judged on the following weighted criteria:
- Scientific Excellence (40%)
- Scientific match and interdisciplinarity (20%)
- Intersectorality (20%)
- Career potential (20%)
Detailed descriptions of each of the selection criteria are contained within the Guide for Applicants.
Number of Fellowships: The planned number of fellowships to be funded for each Call is 12.
